Anyone have advice on choosing wall color to compliment floor and room?
Is there a website or a store or phone number where I can get free advise on choosing wall colors? If not how do I find a good designer in my area to suggest colors? I am fixing up my house for sale and am looking to repaint my house so it looks its best and compliments the various room sizes and flooring. For example, my open kitchen/dining/living room has light oak flooring in the living and dining area, while marble in the entry area, light pinkish ceramic tiles in the kitchen area, white cabinets, black counter tops and appliances, and lots of windows and sliding doors and is vaulted with exposed wood beams. Our style is rustic traditional and this is a middle class neighborhood. We were thinking a light grey? We want it to be neutral.
This is my standard answer for choosing colors:
Find a printed fabric that you like (a tie, a shirt, etc.) that has the color of the item you want to enhance. The other colors in the print will work well for anything else in the room. Pull one of the brighter colors of the print for accessories.
